How does Ox-King know the Kamehameha? I mean if he knew it, why would Roshi have been needed to put out the fire on Fire Mountain in the original story?

He was Roshi´s student after all. And all of his students knew how to do this technique, no matter their ages: Goku, Krillin and Yamcha. It´s only natural for the Ox-King to know it

But, as you can see, his relativley small Kame Hame Ha is leagues behind the Perfect Kame Hame Ha that master Roshi did to put out the fire in the original story. So he could have never put out that fire (even though Roshi tells him that he should be able to do so when he travels to Fry Pan Mountain)

Chi chi originally came to borrow the fan to put out the fire from roshi

Truth also, they never thought that the Kame Hame Ha could be used for that neither. Mainly because Ox´s Kame was far too weak for that.
