12000 shouldn't be able to damage 18000, just a few thousands a huge difference, like vegeta 24000 kill 21000 dodoria easily with just 3000 difference. Dodoria couldn't even do any damage to vegeta

They essentially caught Kiwi off-guard when they powered up using Kaioken. He never expected them to increase their power further after they had already plateaued with their base power. That moment of shock for Kiwi gave Tien the opportunity to strike. It's sort of similar to how Gohan was able to kick Dodoria in the face despite being vastly weaker in the manga/anime.

Even if Tien didn't do a lot of damage to Kiwi, it will set up an opening for Krillin and Haarp to dish out their attacks on Kiwi as well.

Wasn't the base kaioken a 1.5 multiplier? How strong did they become in the afterlife? Or are they already using a x2 multiplier?

Dividing 12,000 by 7000 gives us 1.71, so roughly a 1.75x multiplier. That is pretty good since the three of them are still heeding King Kai's warnings about exceeding a 2x multiplier with Kaioken.

They will be conserving more of their stamina as well as doing less damage to their bodies. They have the advantage in numbers, so they should be keeping Kiwi on his toes for a while.

Once Vegeta enters the picture and goes Great Ape, they will almost have no choice but to crank up the higher multipliers of Kaioken!

According to the Dragon Ball wiki, base Kaio-ken is x2. It also says there is some inconsistency with Kaio-ken and Kaio-ken x2 seeming to be the same despite both Goku and King Kai believing there to be a difference. And yes I know the wiki can be unreliable sometimes, but there are sources to the manga and Daizenshuu 7 for what I've mentioned it said, so in this case I believe it's safe to say the information is reliable especially with the first part being sourced in the manga itself.

Maybe Chewys has the base Kaio-ken a little weaker than x2 to clear up the inconsistencies for this story though as Ultimate Perfection pointed out it is around roughly a 1.75x multiplier according to the math.

Yeah the wiki is made by fans, but if something on it does have proper sources then it's reliable. That said since the canon itself created confusion about whether Kaioken and Kaioken x2 were any different from each other, it works in this situation for you to make them have a clear difference to clear up said confusion for this story.
