— Videogame Heroines ABC Round 2 —

D is for Deedoo, the mascot character from Whoop, the maze-puzzle game set in fractal environments and other mathematical figures.

Because of a particularily devious puzzle two-thirds of the way through mixing Escher’s illusions with the maze-like concept of the earlier levels of the game, many players didn’t actually complete all the puzzles (myself included), making the game itself an endlessly repeating figure - and if it weren’t for the kind encouragements of Deedoo along the way, it’s a safe bet to say that many more would have given up even earlier!

— Videogame Heroines ABC Round 2 —

Charlie is the iconic first lead of “Passing”, the post apocalyptic survival-generational game, as she is the only defined character - all subsequent avatars are based on the players stats and choices.

Set after a disastrous climatic event, modern society has fallen into a slow decay. The game begins a few years after, on the day where Charlie is left by her foster father, disappeared after having left  to gather supplies. The player is then left to his own devices to learn the ways of survival in this new world order as Charlie does, and hopefully live long enough to pass on this knowledge.

Bella, the charming lead from “Beyond Dreaming”, the open world americana police-drama.
Set in the 1920’s in Philadelphia, Bella Palmer, an agent from the district attorney’s office, infiltrates a gang of thieves in the hope to discover their head and put a stop to their plans.

Using her wits, charm and guile, the player (as Bella) must eventually choose between stopping the nefarious gang planning a series of heists… or using her situation as an undercover agent to profit from the heists herself. The game can follow very different paths according to the player’s
decision on each heist, and the conclusion (and Bella’s fate) rest entirely on the player’s morality.

— Videogame Heroines ABC Round 2 —

We start off this new series with a bang - the infamous Alpha Star (alias for Andy Lake) from the superhero tactical-RPG “Justice Defenders 2”!

Alpha Star, street-punk-turned-hero, wielding the Four Bangle allowing her to manipulate the four primary elements, was the antagonist of the previous game, but critical acclaim made her return in an lead role for the sequel in what was arguably the best part of the game, when the party splits up to defend the town.

The game had a peculiar structure, aiming to contextualize dramatic events during battles. It tried giving each scenario a specific and singular gimmick, such as the helicopter escape here, where movement was limited to the predefinite path of the craft, making the order in which to dispatch targets the key to winning.
