They know that he needed a moon to transform.
And they also know that creating one needs a lot of energy ....

Beside that without gero vegeta can't sense the androids so one ca easily move to destroy it....

They can't, otherwise they would have tried doing so in original DragonBall z as well. It's not an actual material moon to destroy, it's just ki energy.

maybe but there are so many examples in DB that let met think that it is possible.

picolo often saves gohan with a special beem canon and manage to devihate a more powerful attack and it even manage to made it explode.

the genkidama absorbs freeza powerball

or two kamehameha against each other

even if the ball can't be destroyed it can be disolved in tiny peaces and then there will be less light source for the ozaru to work ^^

and as vegeta was weaker than an android when he did that ball, if an android shoot an intense energy beem over that ball, i bet he could eraze it ;p

This manga is about universe 3 and 9.It says universe 3 and 9 early story events on earth are the same.Piccolo destroyed the fake moon in universe 3.So it should be possible in 9.They also know about the moon but have no idea about the tail.Original DB kaio knew about the moon but did not tell goku to destroy the fake moon.We could assume it was not possible to destroy it in the original.Vegeta also said his moon will last another hour when gohan was ape.So timeout is also another option for the fake moon to vanish.
