I honestly don't understand what interest you may have concerning a matter as absurd as this folktale. A subject, so endlessly repeated in American popular culture, it seems that most people hate hearing about it (or even ridicule people to stop others from taking it seriously).
Examples of the subject would be the feature film "Men in Black" in 1997, or on the small screen the series "The X Files" or "Fringe". They were also the inspiration for the character "Agent Smith" in the "Matrix" movies and the guards in the movie "Dark City", to name a few.
The prevailing opinion, even among proponents of the UFO phenomenon, is that the Men in Black are purely folklore within ufology, the result of media influence, the collective imagination and autosuggestion. Although there are scholars who believe that there is real element to the issue because of cases of extortion and threats made researchers researchers, for example, Albert K. Bender. One possible explanation is that the myth arose because of the dark colored clothing used by many CIA, FBI and Secret Service agents. |
