The Power of Goodbye

So yesterday I was listening to my old playlist and I had random encounter with Madonna's "The Power of Goodbye". My mind started to work faster than it should LOL and at the end I created two OCs, who's names I still don't know (UPDATE ~Ameyama named the warrior Aon), but the plot or relations between them are pretty clear (and simple). The boy on the left is a wild mage from the settlement in the far forest, the place hard to reach and dangerous enough to make it not easy to get back from there alive.

The huge kingdom is planning to start the war with the other one very soon, and no matter how much academic mages they would have, the magic of the wild ones is unique and different. It's higly desired, but the wild mages refused to take a part in this war and to get involved into conflict between kingdoms. So the only good way to get them on the right side is to kidnap them from their pitufull settlement of course.

And so the warrior, character on the right with company of the other brave men decides to go there, not expecting how hard may be the way there. And not expecting that mages would be desperate to stay in their own little place enough to kill the rest of the warriors who survived the long way. Our main character has incredible luck. He was able to grab and tied up one of the mages and get out of the settlement alive. Now all he has to do is to bring the mage back to the city.

In my head the story is rather melancholic, the warrior lost his men, the mage propably will never see his home again. They hate and doesn't understand each other, but as two people, they both wish to survive the hard way to the city. And the way back home is long, dangerous and lonely so finally they start to create some relationship which doesn't really have chance for a bright happy ending. The warrior knows how the mage will be treaten in the city, not better than the slave and maybe even worse. But for him the man is important symbol, the reward proving that death of his people wasn't a waste. And he can't get back home empty-handed.

The mage sings the song every evening, which helps him to survive his longing to be back to his home and the sorrow. The warrior knows that he should make the guy shut up, singing in the night in the dark dangerous forest can't bring him any good. But somehow he can't do that, finding the song as sooting as well.

So this picture is inspired by one of my favorite Madonna's songs, The Power of Goodbye. Generally the Ray of Lights album was pretty important music discovery for me, when I was young and when the cassette tapes still were used. My mother bought it for me as a christmas gift and I remember to listen to it again and again and again on my old walkman in the evenings before sleep. The whole album was working on my imagination, The Power of Goodbye, Frozen, Ray of Lights, Nothing Really Matters or Shanti/Ashtangi were absolutely mind blowing experiance for me then lol.
