Arma 2, the military shooter sequel from Bohemia Interactive, is going free-to-play. Really! With no microtransactions etc but with a slightly limited feature set.

It’s basically a cut down version of the game, allowing you to play the multiplayer aspect with the ability for players to host, share and build their own campaigns.

If you’re not familiar with the Arma series, think Battlefield 2, except with larger maps, more strategy, and greater realism. Originally released back in 2009, Arma 2 is set in the fictional former Soviet state of Chernarus.

The Arma 2 Official Website announces that the free download is coming JUNE 2011, and offer a launch trailer to celebrate the news.
